XTRM Group welcomes the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of Resolution A/80/L.104, “Correct the Map: Rebalancing Global Cartographic Representation and Promoting Equitable Representation of the World’s Regions, Particularly Africa,” an African-led initiative presented by the Togolese Republic on behalf of the African Group and supported by the African Union. Adopted on September 4, 2026, with 164 votes in favor, the resolution promotes the use of more accurate, equal-area cartographic projections, including Equal Earth, to better reflect the true geographical scale of Africa and other regions and encourages cooperation among governments, educational institutions, international organizations, academia, and technology stakeholders to advance more equitable cartographic representation.
We commend this historic step toward a more accurate representation of Africa and look forward to a future in which Africa’s true scale is matched by greater global recognition of its people, markets, resources, innovation, and economic potential. As the continent continues to redefine its place in the global economy, investors, businesses, entrepreneurs, and strategic partners are encouraged to look beyond outdated perceptions and explore the growing investment and business opportunities emerging across Africa.
